CCMT Secretary Kevin Somerville and President Neil Goodyer accepting the Healthy Towns CCMT Award – what a great win – congratulations!

Christmas came early for Cooloola Coast Medical Transport with the granting of a couple of key funds and the winning of a category award from Healthy Towns which acknowledges Community Contributions from organisations.

There was a wide range of recipients at the Healthy Towns Awards and we were very pleased to be included in the awards along with other very worthy winners.

It is amazing and encouraging to see just how much volunteers are contributing to meeting the shortfall in government services to regional areas; and we look forward to being a part of it for many years to come.

We were also blessed with a grant from the Gympie Regional Council’s Community Partnerships Program, which has allowed us to improve the efficiency, safety and security of our filing systems in the office and this should also improve the speed that we can handle client’s enquiries when booking drives.

Sometimes it’s those smaller investments that can make the job so much easier for our volunteers, so we take this opportunity to thank the Council for recognising our efforts and the contribution we make.

Our local Federal Government member, Llew O’Brien, has carried on the support that we have enjoyed over the years from his office and was instrumental in helping to obtain a significant grant of $22,000 under the Stronger Communities Programme, which will assist us in changing three of our vehicles due for replacement under our current operational strategies in the January-to-March time frame.
