Happy New Year! It seems 2019 finished well for the Wide Bay Warriors combined team of Cooloola, Hervey Bay and Bundaberg Dragons.

All the training every Thursday afternoon and Sunday morning up and down Snapper Creek paid off when they took out 3rd place on the Open 200-metre race at the Manly Regatta at Lake Kawana – very tight racing with very little between 1st, 2nd and us 3rd.

An exciting regatta was topped off by two of our Dragons Jill McDonald and Pam Gorey, bringing home a raffle prize each! Well done team.

In December we kicked back and celebrated at our Christmas party at the Silky Oaks Tea Gardens.

Our final paddle for 2019 was a social paddle around to Norman Point followed by a BBQ breakfast.

The Dragon Boat Club will take a well-earned two-week break until January 5. We will then return to training again Thursday afternoons and Sunday mornings – straight into training for the Lakers/Redcliffe Regatta at Lake Kawana on January 12.

The Dragon’s Lair Cafe continues each TCB market day, providing hot breakfasts, tea, coffee and homemade slices.

Come and visit us in the RSL hall. For further information regarding the Cooloola Dragon Boat Club please phone our coach, Sandy Wooster, on 0402 352756.
