Tom and Jerry answer your garden questions

Tom wyattJerry Coleby-Williams and Tom Wyatt have you covered this year at the Gympie Garden Expo on Saturday April 30 and Sunday May 1. Jerry promises to help you ‘eat your volunteers’, and will share his ideas on simple home food production using non-hybrid stock and seed saving. Tom and Jerry will also be on hand to answer those niggling questions you have of your own garden. Jerry has wealth of knowledge and experience, combined with a forward thinking philosophy, and Tom is a favourite with his practical approach to gardening. I can think of no better way to get inspired in the garden this season!

A popular guest on TV’s Gardening Australia, Jerry has created ‘Bellis’, a model, affordable, sustainable house and garden project in Brisbane, where he lives. It has been adapted to reduce our impact on the natural world: saving domestic water use, reducing sewage and stormwater pollution, reducing peak demand for energy and reducing greenhouse gas production.

“My back garden grows fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices. The decorative front garden grows plants suited to natural rainfall and long-lived stock has been selected to cope with predicted climate change for Brisbane to 2050. Both are grown organically,” said Jerry. “Bring along your sick plants and don’t be afraid to ask questions on how to improve your garden and what you can do to live more sustainably.”

In addition, radio gardening guru Tom Wyatt will also be presenting information packed presentations with a plant clinic Q and A to follow each session through the weekend, Bush food presentations are the speciality on Sunday in Compost Corner at the Hensel Building.
