Recognising our Community Heroes – Thanks a Million Nominations Open for National Volunteer Week Awards

Local Member for Gympie, David Gibson will be hosting his annual morning teas during the third week in May at Pomona, Tin Can Bay and Gympie to recognise and celebrate the valuable contribution local volunteers make to the community for National Volunteers Week.

“This is the seventh year we will be celebrating our local heroes in the electorate” Mr Gibson said.

“Volunteers do a great job in providing services and support for the local community and this is one way we can say thank you for their outstanding efforts over the past year.”

“After the extensive flood events throughout Queensland and in particular in our local region earlier this year it is more important than ever that we take the time to pause and thank those around us who have made a significant difference to our community, and that is why I host these morning teas.”

“Volunteers provide and assist in the delivery of numerous services to the community ranging from sporting teams, delivery of meals to those in need and running local community events.

“We all know someone who deserves recognition for their efforts and I would encourage community and sporting groups and local businesses in the area to contact my office to nominate locals who should be recognised during National Volunteer Week in May.” Mr Gibson said

Businesses and Organisations are encouraged to nominate a volunteer who they consider a worthy recipient of a certificate of appreciation for National Volunteer Week by contacting the office of David Gibson on 5482 3651 or email to gympie@parliament.qld.gov.au with the nominee’s details.
