Horties hit 70 and celebrate with great prizes! Gympie Garden Expo

With over 30 sections in its potted plant competition, and $785 in prizes up for grabs, the Gympie and District Horticulture Society celebrates 70 years of service in the community this year.

Everyone is invited to take part in their competition by entering your lovingly cared for plants at the annual Gympie Garden Expo. Whether begonias are your thing, palms or bromeliads, bonsai or euphorbia, now is your chance to display your potted friends in the competition.

Perhaps creating fabulous design is more your thing? Then celebrate in style with the special novelty section themed “Birthday” which salutes not only the organisation turning 70 but Gympie’s 150th anniversary.

Size requirements allow for pots not exceeding 400mm and to be free of disease and dripping water. Entries are to be received on Friday May 5 from 1-4.30pm.
Kids also get to join in the fun by creating an artwork on A4 inspired by “the Magical Tree”, a poem by Pedro Pablo Sacristan. Kids aged from Prep through to Year 3 can paint, draw or design their own magical tree with secret treasures to be found. There are great prizes offered for all ages.
